It is with a heavy heart that we report that the Chairman of our active travel route group for the past five years, Mike Mulholland, has unfortunately passed away.
Mike was a community stalwart – the chairman of Lossiemouth Community Council for the past eight years, one of the founding members of Lossiemouth Community Development Trust, and at the forefront of just about every community campaign Lossiemouth has ever seen, from Save RAF Lossiemouth to Save the East Beach Bridge. He worked tirelessly with organisations, businesses, political leaders and members of the public to improve the local community, and championed an active travel route connecting Lossiemouth to the other communities along the coast.
Thanks to Mike’s efforts, Lossiemouth now has a Lighthouse open to the public, a continued RAF presence, safe road crossings to keep local children safe, an active Lossiemouth Community Development Trust and Lossiemouth Community Council, as well as several major projects in the works. We hope that soon we will be able to add an active travel route connecting the coastal communities to his legacy.
“The new cycle track would be a real prize for the county, it means we could unite all the paths in the area.”
Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time. R.I.P Mike.
