Laich of Moray Active Travel Routes are delighted to announce that we’ve been shortlisted for funding from the Moray Coastal Communities Fund.
The Coastal Communities Fund distributes £100,000 from the Crown Estate to projects with a clear connection to Moray’s coast or sea, based within 12 nautical miles of the coast.
We have applied for money to fund the design stages of the Lighthouse Links project, aiming to get the Lossiemouth – Covesea section shovel-ready. This initial 3.5 kilometre section would tackle the most dangerous section of the B9040 road between Hopeman and Lossiemouth, where it winds with poor sightlines on the approach to Lossiemouth. There is currently no safe, accessible route for people walking, cycling or wheeling to services in Lossiemouth for residents of Covesea, students and staff of Gordonstoun school, and visitors to Silver Sands Caravan Park.
Voting opens today, Friday 25th September and runs until 17:00 on Friday 9th October. You have to vote for 5 of the 17 projects for your vote to count, and we would obviously be grateful for Lighthouse Links to get one of your five votes. You can view details on all 17 projects and vote here.
